Becky Hogg Embroidery celebrate the technique of metal thread work. 

The threads in Metal work embroidery are held on the surface of the fabric by a sewing thread, and depending on the type of metal it is either stitched over or through, like a bead. The application and finish of each thread creates a different texture to suit the style of the design whether it be smooth and shiny or layered and three dimensional.

Clear illustrated instructions will guide you through this hand embroidery project, which once completed can be mounted and hung in the little wooden hoop provided.

In this kit you can make a little Gingerbread house that’s almost good enough to eat! Made with sumptuous shiny metal threads in copper and silver with beads and silver spangles.  You will learn stitches including Couching, Cutwork loops and a Pearl Purl edgings before cutting it out to make into a brooch or a hanging decoration measuring approximately 5x4cm.

- APPLE BROOCH-
In this kit you can make a charming little Apple brooch in Metalwork embroidery with a 3D shaded leaf, the 1st design in Becky’s new ‘Pocket kit’ series! The Apple is embroidered on cotton with a shimmery red metallic Passing (metal thread). The red metal thread is couched (sewn over) in position using 2 shades of green cotton.
The raised embroidered silk shaded leaf is worked separately and cut out, sculpted then attached to the Apple. The finished Apple embroidery measures approximately 3.5×2.5cm.

- WILLIAM MORRIS STRAWBERRY BROOCH-
A collaborative project between Becky Hogg Embroidery and The William Morris Society. Strawberry Thief was first produced in 1883 and was inspired by William Morris’s observation of the thrushes creeping under the strawberry nets to steal the fruit in the garden of his Oxfordshire home, Kelmscott Manor. It remains one of his most popular designs today.Now you can have  your own little piece of the pattern in the form of a Strawberry brooch or decoration made with delicious metal threads in red, gold, pink and blue. In this hand embroidery kit you will learn stitches including Couching, Cutwork loops and Pearl purl edges, and finish it off with 3D silk purl leaves in the blue of the original print. Once complete the embroidery can be cut out, backed and made into a decorative hanging or brooch measuring approximately 3.5×5.5cm.
